Phantom Beats (DJ - Breaks)

In the five short that Matt and Neil Phantom have been working together they have knocked up an impressive array of achievements. They have DJed all around the world, been broadcast on BBC Radio One (both DJing and Live), held down residencies at legendary clubs and released records that have become classics.
Their mash-up DJ style first brought them to the attention of the promoters of Heavenly Jukebox, the birthplace of Big Beat, who shipped them to London. They caused such a riot that they were invited back on a monthly basis. From there on they made progress through Britain's clubs, blowing dancefloors away as their style became funkier and tougher. It was about this time that they started to produce their own music and that's when the world really sat up and listened...
Their first solo single "Growler" on Plastic Raygun had the likes of Pilgrem, Shut Up & Dance and 808 State on the phone praising their efforts, whilst Hybrid became such big fans they fused one of the boys' later tracks ("Don't Care") with Sasha's "Expander" for a bootleg which received massive attention.>
Shortly after, they recorded 3 exclusive live tracks for the Evening Session for BBC Radio One and made 2000 a year of extensively touring the US and Europe. 2001 became a remix year, pumping out things on labels such as Functional, Default and Freakaboom.
They finished the year off with another US tour, a gig to 7,000 Spaniards and a glut of UK dates alongside label mate Jean Jacques Smoothie.
2002 was an incredible year for Phantom Beats. Not only were promos of their releases ("Mercury" and "Remixed") receiving glowing praise from the likes of Tayo, Meat Katie and Hybrid, but they became one of the most in demand breakbeat DJ teams in the world.
Every weekend saw them in a different country and that summer saw them mix "The Raygun Administration 2", the second installment in Plastic Raygun's hugely successful compilation series.
2003 was the year of "21st Century Breaks", a triple-CD mix with Soul Of Man on React Records which receiving gushing praise from press and punters alike. Some called it "hands down the best breaks compilation on the market" whilst Mixmag said "Full marks.rating = Beast!".
It was no surprise that it has been non-stop ever since for the boys. By the end of the year their records will have travelled through four continents with them finishing 2003 with a three week tour of Australia and Japan. At this rate 2004 had better watch out!!!
