Pete Jordan
(DJ -
Breaks)
Four years ago, DJ/Producer Pete Jordan was becoming more and more frustrated with the lack of decent club nights where he could play quality breakbeat. Never one to sit back and complain, Pete pulled together his resources and experience and put it into a new night – Spectrum. Now, twice winners of the coveted “Best Club” award at the Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards (2002/3 and 2003/4), and Mixmag’s “Best Breaks Club” in 2003 and 2004, you could say that the Spectrum formula has worked! It is no fluke that Pete has received such accolades.
With over 8 years experience of DJing breaks, beats and hip hop all over the world, he has developed into one of the breaks scenes best and most respected DJ’s. Equally at home with warming up and playing peak time sets, his versatile and fun approach to music never fails to fit in perfectly whenever and wherever he takes control of the decks.
Indeed, Pete has taken his Spectrum Breaks sound to the far reaches of the globe, including tours of Australia, Croatia, Finland, Norway, Hungary, Czech Republic, Spain and the Balearics, and continues to work tirelessly developing the ever-growing breakbeat scene in the UK.
2004 proved to be another busy year. Spectrum left the legendary Bomb and started its new residency at the UK’s newest super club Stealth. The Spectrum brand goes from strength to strength and Jordan’s reputation as one of leading lights in breaks continues to be affirmed. Last year also saw his debut at the Glastonbury Festival on the Glade Stage. Pete is also actively working with various producers, nurturing the emerging breakbeat scene in Nottingham towards its fullest potential. He has just finished compiling his second CD (Nottingham Breaks City Vol. 2) showcasing the talents of up-and-coming production outfits including Hexadecimal, Šlive, Max Hedroom and Michael Morph. His first release comes out in September on DDB records with more scheduled for later in the year.
